Why should I do this course?

The Industry has a current shortage of estimators and quantity surveyors, who have a basic understanding of estimating and tendering.

How long does the course take?

Completing all units of the full course will take approximately 100 hours to complete.

What resources do I need to study this course?

A quiet place to study and concentrate. A computer that has access to Microsoft Excel, email access, scale ruler, calculator.

What qualification will this give me?

You will become qualified as a junior estimator. As well as your certificate, you will be provided with a written reference from a senior estimator or senior quantity surveyor currently working in the industry, as this person would have provided your one-on-one tuition.

Who will be assessing my assignments?

A qualified trainer and assessor of training and education TAE40110.

How much does an Estimator get paid?

Some of the current rates of pay are: Junior Estimator $40,000 – $60,000; Intermediate Estimator $70,000 – $80,000; Senior Estimator $80,000 – $120,000. In New Zealand and Australia, one of the sought-after professions is estimators and quantity surveyors

What study time should I set aside each week?

If you set aside approximately 12 hours each week, you will complete the course in eight weeks.

What is Industry Certified?

Industry Certified is the current methods used in construction companies in New Zealand and Australia. This means that you will have a complete understanding of estimating in the workplace

What support is available should I need help?

You will be in direct email and phone contact anytime with your tutor, who will also be a senior estimator or a senior quantity surveyor, or you can call us at the office during business hours.

Course Material

You will be emailed each unit, which has been electronically set up on Excel for you to complete. The preset areas calculate automatically. You do not need experience in Excel as all formulas have been preset for you. Templates are provided with each unit for you to practice with prior to completing your assignments. At the end of each unit you will find the assessment and feedback form.

Can I finance this course?

We do offer pay as you go, which means that instead of payment of the complete cost up front, you can pay for each unit one at a time. However, due to the highly specialised nature of the Structural Steel and Fabrication course, the pay as you go option is not available, and the course fee will need to be paid in full prior to starting.

Can this course be completed by students overseas?

Yes, the cost will be the same as New Zealand students.
